Meaning of Surah Rahman
Surah meaning
The word “surah” (سورۃ) is an Arabic word that means a chapter. It refers to any part of the Holy Quran called surah by Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). Every Quranic surah contains some verses that are called Ayaat (آیات).
For example, this surah is the 55th surah of the Quran. It has 78 verses, and it is placed in the 27th Parah. Quran contains 114 surahs. Every Surah has a separate name, and every name is significant.
Rahman Meaning
The word “Rahman” is also an Arabic word that means a Kind Man. Any man who has mercy and loveliness is called Rahman in Arabic. In this Surah, this word is used for Allah Almighty, Because of his mercy and love for his believers.
This word is the phrase of exaggeration. It means very kind. This surah starts from the word Ar-Rahman. That’s why this surah’s name is Surah Rahman.
Period of the Revelation
It is doubtful whether Surah Ar-Rahman is Makki or Madni. Commentators of the Quran, Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas and Hazrat Ikrimah, believe this surah is Madni, but many translators and commentators still believe that it isn’t Madni but rather Makki.
They said that Surah e Rehman shares many contextual similarities with others who descended in Makkah Mukarmah. On the other hand, all commentators are confident that this was revealed to answer the tribbles who settled in Makkah Mukarmah, and they were disbelievers, too.
Structure of Surah Rahman
This Surat is structured very beautifully. It is the specialty of God that the work he does brings to completion in a very good way. An excellent example is this surah. The connection between Surah and other Surahs in the Quran
There is a very close relationship between Surah Rahman and other suraa. Allah has discussed past nations in Surah Qamar, the 54th surah of the Quran. In the following Surah, Allah almighty also discussed Egypt, the living place of Pharaoh. He was the disbeliever in the era of Prophet Mussa.

Characteristics of Surah Tul Rahman PDF
Surah is called the Aroos ul Quran. Because this surah has some unbelievable features. This surah is only in which Allah Almighty has repeated a verse (فبای ءالاءربکما تکذبان) 31 times but this verse is repeated very beautifully.
Allah is reminding his creations, especially Mankind and Jinnat (Creation of Allah which is created by fire.) that he remember my blessings and favors for both creations. After the remembrance, Almighty says don’t forgive “My worshiping and gratitude will be the first goal for you both.”

First Section of Surah Rahman
If we check various tafaseer to check the main theme of 1st ruku we will find that Allah is describing his blessings. Especially about Jannah’s gifts and Jahanum’s Penalties. Because Jannah’s blessings are like miracles but on the other hand Jahanum’s penalties are very hard.
Second Section of Surah Rahman
In the second section, the almighty describes the blessings of this wonderful world. He is saying that he is the one who allows crops to grow and animals to flourish. He is the one who created mankind with soil and Jinnat from fire.
He also tells a reward of a man who will obey his order in the mortal life of the world in the form of Jannah. But Man, who will not obey will be punished in the form of Jahanum.
Third Section of Surah Rahman
This section is one of the toughest parts of surah. Allah has told the scenes of the toughest day which is judgment day. That day will the tough for those who disobey Allah’s order. But that day will be good news for those who obey Allah’s order without any change.
The day will be equal to 50000+ years of human life. All mankind will appear in service of God. Everybody will have a charge sheet of his entire life in his hand.
If he was a good soul in human life his charge sheet would be in his right hand and he would go to Jannah and the man who was a sinner in his life his charge sheet would be in his left hand and he would be punished by Jahanum.
Final Section of Surah Rahman
Every man in this life is running after the money. This Fourth and Final section is a very amazing lesson for that people. Allah has explained that the main purpose of creating man is to worship the only god.
There is no other purpose and affair to create humans. If anyone has done it carefully, he will be rewarded by Almighty.
Hadiths related to Surah Rahman

Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said:
“Everything has an adornment, and the adornment of the Quran is Surah Ar-Rahman.”
This hadith is the 2337th hadith of the great hadith book Shuab al-Iman. which is a very authentic and acceptable book of Islamic history.
Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said:
“Whoever recites Surah Ar-Rahman, Allah will have mercy on his weakness and grant blessings equal to his recitation.”
This Hadith is the 841st of Adab-ul-Mufrad by Ameer-ul-Momineen Imam Bukhari who was the 1st man who try to collect all sahih hadiths in his book.
“Surah Ar-Rahman will come on the Day of Judgment like a pale man, interceding for its reciter.”
This beautiful hadith is my personal favorite. This hadith is the 8621st hadith of Al Mojama-ul-Kabir.

Surah Rahman describes Jahanum
There are no exact words about Jahanum in the Surah. Only 1 Ayat Allah has described the very terrible scene of the Final day. Allah said that when he punishes disbelievers, they say what is this? Allah will reply to them
“This is Hell, which the criminals deny”.
